Confessions of Solitude...A Poem

I wrote this a couple years back and just stumbled upon it again. It still resonates.

Maybe tonight I will lay still

And contemplate solitude awhile

For you cannot be found

You who understand my smile

And piece my fragment thoughts together

Across a thousand skies and past a thousand stars,

There is no resting place

For roving imaginations and fragile hearts

May one pulse that beats apace

Hasten toward this light of mine

Tis truly rest to find one soul

Who understands or thinks akin;

Whose intellect like hand in glove

Bonds close, like sweat to heated skin

Emotion honest, pure and real

Commitment, loyalty, unwavering zeal

May these defend our friendship when

Our kindred souls do meet

Amen
